CIRSD President Vuk Jeremić has concluded his visit to Uruguay, during which he met with President Jóse Mujica and Foreign Minister Luis Almagro.
Their wide-ranging discussions centered on the importance for countries to work together through the United Nations to set the terms of the post-2015 sustainable development agenda, underlining how critical it is to prioritize the social and environmental dimensions, in addition to the economic one.
"I am truly grateful to President Mujica's support for the fundamental principles of the post-2015 agenda and for his leadership in promoting a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development throughout Latin America and beyond," Jeremić said.
During their meetings, they also touched upon a number of other issues of global concern and how recent developments in other parts of the world could impact on Latin America.
Jeremić also met with Uruguay's former head of state and current presidential candidate Dr. Tabaré Vázquez, who particularly stressed the importance of including health issues in the post-2015 sustainable development agenda.
